Dr. Joseph Kappes also serves as chairman of the Japan Karate-do Ryobu-Kai
Medical Committee. He has been a student and teacher of traditional karatedo for more than 30 years. During one of his many trips to Japan, he was awarded 6th degree blackbelt (rokudan) ranking with the JKR and was also honored with the shogo title (shihan title) Renshi.
